Ham, 5 May 2025 — Corvers Biofuels announces the relocation of its operations from Beringen to the former Ecopower production site along the Albert Canal in Tessenderlo-Ham, effective 5 May 2025. This move follows the strategic acquisition of Ecopower's pellet division, completed in August 2024. Ecopower built a pellet factory in the Limburg municipality of Ham in 2011, which has been operational since 2014. Due to persistent financial difficulties, production was halted in early 2024 and Ecopower decided to seek a buyer. Corvers Biofuels took up the challenge.
Expansion of Operational Capacity
After 17 years in Beringen, Corvers Biofuels is centralising its activities on a site that enables a significantly larger operational scale. The acquisition of the Ecopower infrastructure results in a doubling of wood pellet production capacity. "This step fits within our long-term vision of sustainable growth," says Kris Corvers, managing director of Corvers Biofuels. "The new location allows us to work more efficiently and serve our customers even better."
Strategic Advantages: Local Raw Materials and Multimodal Logistics
The location along the Albert Canal provides Corvers Biofuels with a distinctive logistical advantage: in addition to road transport, the company now has the ability to ship goods via inland waterways, increasing delivery flexibility. Furthermore, Corvers Biofuels works with wood pellets of Belgian origin, produced from timber sourced from the Belgian Ardennes. This choice reduces dependence on international markets, which are once again demonstrating their vulnerability to price fluctuations and geopolitical disruptions amid the current energy crisis.
Direct Collection at the New Ham Site
The new site in Ham houses a fully-fledged collection point, a familiar concept for those who already knew Corvers Biofuels from Beringen. In Ham too, both private individuals and professional customers can visit during fixed opening hours (Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm) to browse a wide and growing range of products. In addition to bagged wood pellets, firewood and charcoal with a complete BBQ range, Corvers Biofuels is further expanding its offering with a range of garden products. The Ham site is thus growing into a central destination for sustainable fuels and natural outdoor living. "Just as in Beringen, we focus on personal, warm service, but now with a broader range and a larger site," says Kris Corvers.
